Management Coaching: Guide and Improve your employees performance!

To be able to carry out an effective management coaching activity is no stroll in the park. Patience and dedication is required for a good management coach to convey their own understanding to their students. If you’re a manager and you have an employee who had been slacking off for the past couple of weeks, you need a good management coach. You would not want to fire your employee as this would most likely distort the good relationship between you and your employee. This is what is difficult in the management coaching process, having your employee agree that they need improvement immediately. It is often not comprehensive and not understood which blurs the chances of a permanent change of the employee.

As the demand for management coaching increases, so does the questions of what it is and what it is not. Basically, management coaching is an interpersonal course between the employee and the manager wherein the manager aids the employee readdress his performance while maintaining trust between each other.

Coaching is different from feedback, but feedback is a component of the whole coaching progression. These feedbacks are given by the supervisor or the manager in specific situations or events. Coaching, on the other hand, focuses more on the outline of attitude along with strategies for growth and development. Coaching is all about seeing situations and events as challenges and converting them to learning experiences.

In general, meeting for a management coaching activity should only be done only after an employee understands what is expected of him or her and has received feedback that does not favor the performance of the employee. But in certain cases, specific situations may be the core of a management coaching meeting.

Coaching involves several crucial elements. They include a two-way conversation, several steps or objectives, specific coaching techniques, etc. The management coach has to focus on two areas.

One of which is to help the employee recognize the call for improvement and the need for change and development. The other, having the employee commit to the steps given for him or her to change and improve. Without self-awareness, the employee would need the help to improve thus, improving the organization as well.
